TO HOST DEPT. OF HOMELAND SECURITY “FRONTLINE RESPONDER” TRAINING COURSE

“Protecting Soft Targets Course” Will Feature International Experts In Protection & Security

CHARLOTTE, NC – July 31, 2012 – In advance of 2012 Democratic National Convention – deemed a “National Special Security Event” by the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security – a special training course for first responders and frontline responders will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at the Central Church of God, 5301 Sardis Road, Charlotte, NC 28270.

“This is a unique opportunity to give our community responders important information to remain prepared in the event of a “soft target” incident, such as shopping centers, entertainment venues or at public gatherings,” said Lynn A. Hoosier, President and CEO at Metro Special Police and Security, Inc. “This is part of Metro’s ongoing commitment to our community which is in line with our 24-hour protection services and call center.”

The training course will feature two leading international experts on protection and security, and is intended to increase the awareness of security staff, law enforcement, and emergency medical and other first responders in handling an emergency event at a “soft target venue”.

Karl de la Guerra, Vice President & Chief Operating Officer of Metro Special Police & Security, Inc., a Certified Frontline Responder instructor will lead the course.

Emmy Award winner Dan Starks and host of the long running “Don’t be a Victim” news series for Charlotte’s NBC affiliate, News Channel 36 (WCNC-TV), will be the keynote speaker at the event.

The Frontline Responder Course was developed in association with the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security by the Center for Workforce Development at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas.
